This past weekend, I playtested Distilled at two different online conventions, spanning multiple countries around the world. The first was Unpub’s “Nonepub”, which was an online playtesting convention. While I did get to playtest Distilled a few times at this con, it was a bit disappointing, as I had expected to playtest the game quite a bit more – with players rather than designers – but so goes the nature of playtesting amidst a pandemic!
While I didn’t get a chance to spend too much time with the UK Games Expo’s “Virtually Expo”, I did have the opporutnity to participate in one playtesting slot, and meet a few folks from across the Atlantic in the process.
One person who played my game over the weekend, Chris Stone, was kind enough to leave a review of Distilled on BoardGameGeek! It’s reviews like this that inspire me to keep going, while also helping others learn about the game. Thanks Chris! Here’s an excerpt:
“The combination of that thematic nostalgia with the science of distilling spirits in all their variety really hit a perfect chord for me, and had me thinking about the game long after playing.”
